The fast-paced updates out of Mumbai confirmed our worst fears: the
Chabad House lovingly guided by 29-year-old Gavriel Holtzberg and
his beautiful wife Rivka, 28, was a prime target of the terrorist rampage.
After three days of carnage, the tally of human suffering had reached 164
people murdered; 308 injured. Among the dead: Rabbi Gavriel and Rivka
Holtzberg and four of their guests.
Amid endless images of bloodshed, family nanny Sandra Samuels
infused us with a feeling of hope as she heroically rescued 2-year-old Moishele Holtzberg from under his captors’ guns. Sadly, they were the only two people to escape.
VICTIMS OF THE 26/11 MUMBAI TERROR ATTACKS
Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg, 29; Rebbetzin Rivka Holtzberg, 28; Rabbi Laibush Teitelbaum, 37;
Rabbi Bentzion Kruman, 26; Mrs. Yocheved Orpaz, 62; and Mrs. Norma Shvarzblat Rabinovich, 50.
